In January 2005, the Academy convened for their second annual meeting at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. The conference brought together the state's outstanding researchers, University chancellors and presidents, and corporate leaders to facilitate more collaboration and to highlight important developments in science, engineering and medicine. The conference provided a forum for Texas' Nobel Laureates, Academy members, industry researchers and up-and-coming scientists to discuss cutting-edge research within a broad array of fields including life sciences, medicine, aerospace and energy.
