About the presentation

"Technology Challenges Facing Future Offshore Oil and Gas Development"
To keep the world running, we use over 80 million barrels of oil and close to 300 billion cubic feet of natural gas every day. Experts predict that as the world grows it will require about 50% more energy in 2030. As demand rises, energy efficiency will become increasingly important, and the pace of improvement will accelerate. At the projected growth rates, oil and gas combined will remain predominant energy sources with roughly a 60 percent share of total energy, which is about the share they hold today.

Technology advances will remain critical to successfully meeting the significant energy supply and demand challenges ahead. Production of new supply will continue to become more challenging. Roughly, 30% of the world’s oil and gas production comes from offshore. This presentation will highlight technical successes and challenges facing future development of offshore resources in increasingly difficult and harsh environments.
