Save the Date for the 2014 Texas Water Summit
The 2014 Texas Water Summit will focus on the realization that the expected near-doubling of the state’s population over the next 50 years must meet the water needs of the economy that is expected to support that population. The summit will engage key individuals in agriculture, oil and gas, the power industry, and manufacturing as to what their water needs might be and how they can be met.
Subject matter experts will present the latest information on the state of water in Texas including:
- Future water availability
- The economics of water
- Review of the Texas Water Plan
- Ecological needs for water
- Industrial water use including conservation, treatment, and alternative sourcing
Technologies will also be identified for conservation, treatment, and reuse of water that will help each sector. Panel discussions will address agricultural water use as well as conservation, treatment technologies, and opportunities for alternative sourcing by industrial sectors—oil & gas production, electricity and power production, and manufacturing.
The two primary goals of the 2014 Texas Water Summit are to engage individuals from various economic sectors to identify, explore, and ultimately implement solutions to our water for economic development needs and to develop, longer term, a continuing role for the application of science and technology to address water issues that face the state.
